Charleston County Public Library Reading Program

Summer in Charleston |

Charleston County Public Library’s summer reading program is for children ages 11 and younger. Enjoy this FREE program at any of our locations from June 1 through August 10. Upon registration, children receive a summer reading log to keep track of time read, or time read to. When each level is completed, turn it in for fantastic prizes!


5 hours ~ reading certificate, South Carolina Reading Medal and Charleston RiverDogs game pass. 
15 hours ~  entry in Charleston RiverDogs Field of Dreams Walk, choice between Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry ticket or a Carolina Ice Palace pass, AND choice between Charleston Battery Soccer ticket or karate lessons from Masters Studios.
30 hours ~ entry in the Every Hero Has a Story Grand Prize Drawing, a 
South Carolina Aquarium ticket, Taco Bell coupon and one McDonald’s coupon for ice cream, fries or a Happy Meal.

Sixteen lucky winners, one from each branch, will receive an amazing package that includes prizes from all of our generous sponsors. Winners will be drawn August 11.

Every Baby Needs a Story
Enjoy this free program designed especially for pre-readers, to help build early literacy skills with simple, fun activities that parents and children can do together. Pick up a form, complete the tasks and turn it in for a free board book for baby and a free tote bag for baby’s grown-up.
